I went to the TFL website to register an Oyster Card 48 hours ago. There were some technical problems and I was advised to try again later. It is still impossible to register an account.
Is it just me or does anyone else think 48 hours is just too long for a major website like TFL to be out of action?
Something else to note is that yesterday, there was a telephone number on the main registration page. I know. I phoned it. Today it had been removed, presumably because the TFL switchboard was getting clogged up with people like myself who wanted to know just what the hell was going on.
One could legitimately ask the question: If somebody had time to edit the page by removing the telephone number then couldn’t they spare the few seconds it would have taken to append a short note to the page telling people not to bother wasting their time. Oh no. That would be too simple and worse still, it would make Livingstone look like the arse he really is. Better not to draw attention to the inefficiency of Livingstone’s pet project; you know, the one that has seen public transport costs double in less than a year. The mayor does share something with New Labour after all. It is the philosophy of “spin”.
